DISCIPLESHIP

At Central Assembly, we desire to allow the Holy Spirit of God to transform us and “…change us from glory to glory”—II Cor. 3.18. It is absolutely essential for believers to be a part of an ongoing program of discipleship, in order to be living a victorious Christian life! In addition to the more traditional method-ologies of discipleship (Sunday School; Men’s and Women’s Ministries; Royal Rangers and Missionettes), we strongly adhere to the belief of discipling others just by establishing lasting relationships that reflect all that God has done in our lives. More important than telling someone what Jesus wants, and expects of them, is the ability to live lives which model Christ before them! Jesus has called us to be “salt and light”; salt adds flavor to dull, bland lives that are just doing what is necessary to get through each day. Light illuminates the darkness that pervades our world! So, as believers, we need to “season” the lives of hopeless, helpless souls all around us with the joy of serving Jesus! We need to pierce the darkness of Satan’ influence in our world, and if we “walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellow-ship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.”—I John 1.7

The process of discipleship starts with faith in saving work of Jesus Christ! As we present our lives to Him as our Savior and Lord, His Holy Spirit takes residence within us, and begins to do the work of transform-ation that will ultimately make us more and more like Jesus! Until the day that we stand before Him, and are ultimately made like Him, the Holy Spirit has endued us with power to be His disciples. Within that word, “endued”, we find the mission of each of us who are believers, and our roles in being His disciples:

E—Evangelizing
N—Nurturing
D—Discipling
U—Uniting
E—Equipping
D—Developing

If each believer will operate in the giftedness that God has uniquely given each one, we can take our community for the Kingdom of God!! It’s not about us; it’s about Jesus, and what He can do through us! We, at Central Assembly of God, believe that!—and if we believe it, then we can do it!
